Created for the ‘Traces Of The Great War’ project – which brought together comics artists from more than half a dozen countries in 2018 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War – Orijit Sen’s story tells the story of the amazing and eventually tragic voyage of the Komagata Maru. In 1914, on the eve of the Great War, an intrepid and revolutionary group of Indians charter a Japanese coal transport ship to travel from Hong Kong to Vancouver – to challenge the British empire from Canadian soil.
